I'm 5'4" medium weight female in mid 20s. On my good drives I get that 'lift' and carry about 185yrds. Most drives though go higher and shorter. Alot of it is probably my swing-- what can I do to get that 'lifting' flight on every drive? My driver is Ping 13.5* with 6.0 torque shaft. The ping fitting on the website recommended this setup. But should I be using a lower lofted driver? My cobra sz 20* (5.0 torque) wood carries 175 so I feel like the drives should carry 200yds. Thanks.

  1. I Believe that you need to learn how to use your lower body, in your swing. Coiling, weight transfere, and drive through the ball are important aspects to gaining distance. I have watched many men drive the ball about 200 yds and they can't hit the ball any farther because they do not use there lower body. Watch the LPGA those women are not big but, they have a very controlled swing and use there lower body correctly. I am not sure that I can provide you with enough information on how to use your lower body, so my suggestion would be to find some help, a local golf pro or someone with a handicap of 5 or lower maybe able to spend time with you to help. Remember it may feel awkward at first but try to improve on the range. If you can add that aspect of using your lower body and start driving the ball further, the equipment change may add few yards but not 20 or 50 that you are looking for.

  2. Your  club should have fewer degrees of loft in order to get a lower trajectory and a longer drive. The swing speed is the factor in determining longer drives as well as less loft. If you can't swing hard, you will not exert power which will result in shorter drives.

  3. If you want to cut strokes from your game, the quickest way I know of is by using a system, that you can learn on your own, called “The Simple Golf Swing”. It is simple, and you can learn it quickly.

The big promise in this system is that you can  "Cut 7 strokes from your handicap in only one week."

I've been using it and have cut down my strokes - but even better, since I am developing a better, more natural swing, I am actually driving the ball further without any extra effort.

What I am now starting to do is strength training - especially for the muscles I use when swinging the club (upper-body, shoulders, arms, etc.). I can't wait to see this pay off on top of my recent improvement.

I believe that having the right golf equipment is important, but the best equipment is your body strength, and your mind. And when you practice the perfect swing (of course, it is the perfect swing for you and your body type, etc.) it all comes together.

This "Simple Golf Swing" system, and practice is all the training you probably need. It sounds like you've already got some decent golf equipment (I also like King Cobra drivers). Good luck. ;-)

  4. well i think your problem with your swing is that when you hit the ball you are not swinging through it and concentrate on hitting the sweet spot and it will go further and you can purchase a training wood club which is a wood that is much heavier than a normal club and if you swing that twenty times a day for two weeks you will see and improvement and the londer you stick with it the longer your drives will be. Also you could try a 10.5 degree loft club that will force the ball out more. The more and more you play you tend to start swinging harder and harder, and they start to straighten out and go further the longer you stick with it. Golf is not an easy sport i play and sometimes when my drives dont get to where i want to go i start driving with my woods and in some cases my irons, and i am pretty good. I am on the high school golf team and i hold the #2 spot and my average score for nine holes is a 39. Most of my saved strokes are not by adding 20 yards to my drives but taking away putts and chips. the most strokes one usually has when golfing are on putting, so if you really want to shave strokes off then work on putting thats where my game is anchored hope this helped, and stick with gold it is a game that you can keep playing forever :)
