How do I home school?

Question

Does anybody know a good website on homeschooling? Im new to this. I want to homeschool online, but i can't find anygood websites. I also live in New Jersey, and i've been searching online and I still can't find anygood good websites. I need one that would be cheap, not too expensive. All the sites i've been onto are really expensive. I also don't know a lot about how to homeschool. Does anybody know anygood online homeschooling sites in New Jersey? Please Help :D

The first thing you should do is visit http://www.HSLDA.org to find out the laws regarding homeschooling in your state.  The law varies from state to state.

The next thing you should do is visit http://groups.yahoo.com and type in "MyCity homeschool" to find a local support group.  These groups get together for field trips, coop classes, etc. but the other experienced homeschoolers can really help you out.

A Beka has a DVD option, but I believe it is costly-we use their book program.  I do know that they have payment arrangements.

ACE is another that I believe has a DVD or online option, I am not certain about the cost.

There are options in most states to do virtual school, and it is usually free of charge or very inexpensive.  To find out of this is available in your state, visit your state's Department of Education website.  You are still a public school student in this program, but you do your work at home online and they provide all of the materials (and some support services).  It is not what my family wants, but it might be what you are seeking.  Also check out http://www.K12.com and http://www.ConnectionsAcademy.com
