The above site shows you the laws in Michigan.  You shouldn't have any problems at all!

There is no one you have to notify, no attendance records to keep, etc.

I homeschool my son with Aspergers.   I've found it's a much better way to teach!  I also homeschool my other two kids.  We'll never go back to the system if we can help it.

I think you'd just have to tell the school you've just decided to homeschool and you won't be coming back.  :)   Good luck!

  2. Everyone else gave you good information, I just wanted to point you to Home Education  Magazine. They have had some excellent articles on homeschooling autistic children. I know they sell back issues. So here is one:

Teaching Autistic Children Who Aut To Be Home..... page 29

    by Tammy Glaser

Tammy Glaser, of Aut-2B-Home, gives a vivid glimpse of the world of autism, describing practical, workable ways for parents to help autistic children reach their fullest potential through homeschooling.

  3. abeka academy its a school on dvd. its wonderful. i just got done using it and i loved it!

  4. As someone else mentioned, read and know the homeschooling laws for your state.  The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) will have this information.  They also have information on homeschooling special needs children and the laws on whether or not you can still get services through the public school system for your child.  The link is below:

Your desire to homeschool your child is an excellent one, and I am sure that he will do much better with your help at home than he has done in the school system.

I hope the above is helpful.
