Right now, I have my surround sound system hooked up to my Xbox 360... but that doesn't play my burned discs... but my really cheap DVD player reads them... how do I hook up the surround system to the DVD player, do I need a fancy cord? the Xbox came with the cord and all I had to do was plug it in, this is now getting way too complicated for me to figure out. any suggestions would be appreciated, and if you need me to elaborate.... tell me what you need to know.

  1. If you are just playing burned DVD's, then you can connect RCA cables (red and white) from the output of the DVD player to the input of the receiver.

If you are looking for digital surround sound from movies, you will need a digital cable, coax or optical.  If the DVD player is cheap, you might just have coax.

Radio Shack or any other electronic store will have av cables, you only need 2 connectors, red and white, not 3 (red, white and yellow).

Connect the red and white cables to the red and white of your  the Audio out of your DVD player and the other end to the red and white on the dvd in on your receiver.

I wasn't able to find boston digital, could the receiver be a Boston Acoustic, and if so what model #?   if you still need help
