How do I hook up an LED to a battery?

I want to make a simple LED light, hooked up to a battery. How would I do this? And what type of battery would I use?

Apart from a battery you will need a resistor to limit the current through the l.e.d.

Tell someone at RadioShack what you want to do and they will advise you.

it really all depends on what you have for a led. they are all different voltage ratings just make sure you have a resistor to go with it and dont over power it. you should be able to get everything you need right a radio shack.
