How do I hook up internet to a spare computer?

Hey, my friend just recently brought over her desktop computer because she never used it, and we thought in case her kids needed it for homework she could come over and use the internet here, now I was just wondering if and how can I have the internet hooked up to the other computer? I have DSL through my Comcast digital cable (not through the phone line)

just wondering what it is I need to do

You would need to buy a router and connect the wire from your comcast modem to the router then connect the 2 computers to the router.

You need a router.  That will allow you to have multiple computers using the same internet connection from your provider.  Routers come with procedures to help you connect, and if you have a problem, call the router tech support.

You need to create a little network . You need a router that will receive your internet connection cable. Then you can connect two or more computer to the router through a LAN cable or in a wireless way, if the router allows wireless connection and you have wireless reception in your PC (or you have an USB receiver, often supplied with wireless routers)

Wireless router are quite cheap (20-40 USD depending from the model and features).
