Just got a new Vizio 37"and I have a Magnavox 5 disk DVD/Surround System and an xbox. Obviously when we watch DVD's the surround sound is working but we want the Surround sound to work when we watch regular TV and play xbox. Any ideas how to hook it up so that they all can play with the surround sound?

  1. You need to run audio cables from your xbox and you cable box to the receiver. Look on the back of your cable box it should have plugs named: Audio out (white and a yellow plug) and/or plugs called optical out or coaxil out. Then look at you receiver and it should have the same in ie.. coaxil in/optical in, audio in.  If you have a plug on your xbox and cable box that says optical out and your receiver has 2 optical ins That is the best way to go.  If no optical coaxil is next best. But if all else fails the old white and yellow rca's will work too.  Look in your manual on how to hook it up. You will just have to get the cable and plug it in both ends but your receiver book should tell you how to select that input so you can hear it. This is a long answer but it ireally easy to do. It is just plugging in 2 cables don't get intimidated buy the back of your receiver there will be alot of plugs

  2. you will need to hook your Component Video, A/V cables from the xbox into  the  back of your surround system
