  1. To add to what Wojo said. For an easy hookup, try using coax cable. From the cable box "OUT TO TV" connection, go into the vcr "IN FROM ANT" connection. Then go from the vcr "OUT TO TV" into your tv. Be sure & use the same channel on both units (if you look behind the cable box & vcr you have a choice of channel 3 or 4 , choose the same for both) & set your tv to this channel as well.

Now, try your tv on & make sure your cable works ok & you can play a video tape alright.

The only thing you have to remember is using your vcr remote make sure the vcr channel stays on channel 3 or 4 ( you see this selection on the front of the vcr or on your  ON SCREEN DISPLAY.

For better quality recordings, you should use your AUDIO/ VIDEO connections & select your vcr input to the proper selection.

  2. Do you have the cable running thru the VCR or directly to the tv? If its not run thru the VCR (via the input jack either with av or coaxial cable) you need to have it do so. The VCR should then be hooked up to the TV (via the output with either av or coaxial cable). Then in order for the cable to work you have to set the VCR to a certain channel (depends on how you hooked it up. If you used coaxial cable maybe channel 3 or 4 on VCR. If you used AV cables then you have to see which av channel it is on <av front or rear ect>) Make sure both are powered on and then use your cable box to play the TiVo'd stuff and hit record with a blank tape in.
