How do I hook up my home theatre together?

I have the following: a HDTV, a surround sound system, a PS3, and an Xbox 360. How can I hook up everything together? Explain. Also tell me which cables and stuff I will need. Thanks!

Well first, check if your HDTV is HDMI compatible, as that offers the best sound and picture quality.  If so, hook your PS3 and, if possible, your 360 via HDMI.  if not, use the regular component cables.  To connect your HDTV to your surround system, you will see a spot on the rear panel of the TV saying "Audio Out" with the red and white RCA jacks.  but some RCA cables and connect it to your surround sound receiver.  As for the 360 and PS3, if they are hooked up to HDMI, there is no need to run any cables to the receiver as long as the TV's audio out is connected.  If there is no HDMI. look for the red and white audio cables on the A/V cables and buy some RCA cables and RCA cable extenders and simply plug them into your receiver.
