How do I identify which type of disc breaks I have on my mountain bike?

  1. cable pull ones have a wire, hydraulics have tubes going into the caliper.


  2. you will see a cable running to them and it will have normal v-brake levers if its a cable run brake

    If its hydrolic you will not see these and there will be no obvious way of telling what powers it from just looking

  3. The "cables" running from your handlebars to the brakes will be smooth if they are cables.

    If they are hydraulic, they will have ridges.
