  1. Buy an external hard drive

  2. disk clean-up > more options > delete system restore points, WAIT until the ok buttons functions again because it takes time, this will give you more space on the hdd.

The last restore point is untouched.

  3. I'm hoping that this will be the answer in one stop.

    1.  Cleaning up wasted space on your current hd will give you added space.

    2.  Adding your 20 gig as a secondary (most computers allow for 4 IDE type drives) will allow you to start adding programs for your use.  Most-not all-installation programs will allow you to choose your drive that you want to install it on.

    3.  Getting an USB external case will allow you to add the drive to your computer.  You can then format this drive (as well as using method #2 above) will do the same thing as adding it inside the computer and not be limited to the 4 device limit of IDE.

If you have programs on your C drive and want to move them to another drive, COA32 works great.  Otherwise you will have to move the programs themselves AND modify the registry manually.  This can take hours on end (did that with 1 program and took 4 hours to edit the registry).  COA32 is hard to find on the net but is there.  If you want this and can't find it, I'll be glad to email it to you.  This will free up space on the C drive as well.

  4. If you bought a new computer then add the old hard disk in the new computer. There`s a space for additional hard disks.

Both will be accessible from the existing XP

    How to connect:

Theres a ATA or IDE cable connecting hard disk and slot on motherboard.Look for a free slot beside the used one.

    bye

  5. No. operating systems are not transferable. you have to install it on another hard drive, or upgrade the 2000. also if it is a desktop computer, you can have more than one hard drive inside the computer.

Laptops are a whole different story.

  6. If it's really a "new" computer, then you should have a much larger hard drive than just 4Gb; any computer built in the last few years -- or longer, really -- would have a larger drive than that.  I suspect the drive is partitioned into multiple "virtual" drives, and you're looking at the smallest one.  This is often done to create a space for backup software on the drive, for example.

If you bought your computer used, and it is quite old and really only does have a 4Gb drive, then you would look into adding a second hard drive, or replacing the existing drive with a larger one, depending on the expansion capabilities of your computer.

Another possibility is that you're confusing the RAM -- what the computer uses to hold whatever is currently running -- with your hard drive. RAM is much more likely to be 4Gb, which should be plenty for your needs.

  7. Nope sorry man, You have to find an xp installation disk. Look on ebay or craigs list.

  8. Hello From the Tech:

I think you are confused about something here.  They stopped making 4 gig hard drives 12 years ago......

If someone built you a computer with a 4 gig harddrive you were totally ripped off.....that is not even enough space to hold basic windows.

You are prob looking at the ram size.

Please check your computer and post more information if you can.

    Have a gr8 day,

    NightHawk

  9. Use an external hard drive to transfer your files. To increase your hard drive gigs...

    1. Delete files/programs that you don't want to use or don't need it

    2. Reformatting your computer

    3. Get another computer with a bigger hard drive

  10. you need to plug the old computer drive into your new comp.
