How do I increase the cup size in a sewing pattern?

I'm new to sewing and right I am sewing a top. The problem is that the pattern I have is has a small cup size and I need a bigger size. I'm a medium size but I am Blessed (if you can call it that) with a D cup. Thanks in advance.

This is an ok make-do method, but if you can find (or make) patterns with a D cup, you'll probably find they fit and balance better than the altered patterns.
