How do I increase the temperature of my fridge?

Do i take my fridge meter (0 to 12) towards the 0 or towards the 12? I dont remember which direction is colder....

  1. try both and put a thermometer in there

    every refrigerator is different


  2. the higher the number on the control the colder the operation

  3. i would turn it to 12(or a higher number than what it's set on now) and see if it gets colder overnight and if so, then you know which way is colder, and if not, then you know which way is warmer.hope this helps.

  4. In almost all cases the higher the number, the colder the setting. Depending how much air flow is inside the fridge, ie. how full it is, and how good the door seals, you could probably get by with a setting of 4-5.

    <edits> It's always a good idea about every four months to pull the fridge out into the open and wipe off the thin cooling coils on the back. Doing that allows the heat to escape faster and keeps the fridge from having to run as much.
