How do I initiate the formation of a labor union?

I work in the oilfield. With the gross profits of today's oil businesses I am astounded at the way that many companies treat the employees out here in "the patch". Does anybody know how I might initiate or contact someone who may initiate the formation of a labor union for the petroleum business?
