Well it has no CD Drive and only has an external Floppy drive, which I'm not sure if it works since it is a DOS. Is there any way I can get Windows 98 or 95 or 3.1 installed into this? Thanks.

  1. If the external floppy is USB type you might be screwed. Depends on if the system supports booting from USB. If it is fairly new (3-4 years) you might be ok, but if it is any older than that, then the external USB is pry worthless unless you get some obscure DOS driver.

If the external floppy is of some other type you might be ok. More detail might help us. You can PM me if you have more info and I will try to help.

  2. I remember my copy of windows 3.1 being on floppy disks. So thats doable. As for windows 95/98 I would move the harddrive over to a box with a cd drive and install it on the harddrive there or get a external cd drive if theres some kinda of USB input or go ahead and instal an cheapo Cd drive first.

  3. Of course a floppy drive will work with DOS. DOS originally was used with *only* floppies, before hard disks became a practical addition.

That's the only way to install Windows 3.1. Windows 95 mainly shipped on floppies as well; CDs were seldom used. Most of Windows 98 (and almost all of Win98 SE) shipped on CDs, but floppies were also used.

You need to score yourself an old-*** legacy CD-ROM device, or score yourself some installation floppies.

    Good luck.

  4. If your floppy drive is working and your hard disk has two partition do as per the steps:

    1. Get 98se installtion files copied on D drive D:\win98 from u r friend

    2. Get 98bootable floppy created from u r friend

    3. insert bootable floppy and start m/c

    4. Choose install option

    5. type d:\win98\setup

    win98 setup will run
