How do I install a 110 a.c unit with a 220 outlet?

I recently bought a 110 A/C unit 15 amp but have an old 220 outlet, and when I plug the unit into my normal 110 outlet and I can't run anything else in the living room. What are my options?

you need an electrician to change the 220 outlet to a 110 outet he can do that .

You need to have an electrician replace the outlet and circuit breaker.   It's not a big job, as long as the 220 volt outlet is the sole item on the circuit breaker (there isn't electric heat as well).

Have an electrician change it over. It has to be done or it wont work.
