  1. Look in your owners manual. All you do is match the colors. What size cord did you buy that dorsn't have colors?

  2. Now is this a Electric Dryer or a Gas Dryer? There's a junction box on the back of the dryer which should have a hole with a wire attachment, you need to remove cover and attach the wire to the leads marked on termals in the junction box. hope this helps

  3. 3 prong is old, but legal.  New systems use 4 wire now - double check your outlet.

If it's the flat kind kind of 3-wire cord, the center lead is ground and the two outside ones are L1 and L2. See the cord instructions.

EDIT: yes, I know that the center lead is also neutral on a three-wire cord they are tied together in the dryer.  The cover plate for the dryer connection should show this.

To summarize- three prong cord, tie neutral (white) and ground (green) together. 4-wire cord, go color to color.

  4. unless you know what you are doing, don't mess with it!  call an electrician.  better you pay a little money than s***w around with something you don't understand and loose your home etc.  if you insist on doing it, make sure your home owners insurance is paid up.  i have seen way to many home wiring jobs go very wrong.
