  1. Sure is, even the older dishes have two lines running off the dish.  Depends on how good you are with running wire and all that good stuff.  It's pretty easy.  If you don't want to try it yourself, whatever satellite provider you have should take care of you.  Normally to come hook up another receiver it costs about 100 plus equipment.  Depending on who is doing the install and how in depth you want them to go.  But it shouldn't cost much more than that.

If you want to do it yourself, just run another line from the dish.  You have to remove the s***w holding the head or LNB on if there isn't already another line coming off of there.  If you already have 2 boxes hooked up than you would need a 3 x4 switch.(2 lines off of the dish in the switch = 4 tvs you could hook up)  If you don't already have the tools you need to do this, it might be cheaper just calling someone to hook it up for you.  By the time you got done getting the right tools and wire etc.  You would have paid about the same either way.   There really are a million and 1 ways you could do this.  Keep it simple though,  I guess if you are just running it in the basement you don't have to get to fancy with the wire run and could just pick up whatever length you need at wal-mart.  Obviously you would have to order, pick up or purchase somewhere the additional receiver for your dish for whatever type it might be and get it activated by your provider.

  2. In addition to what blur stated.

If you do it legally it will cost you an additional 5 bucks a month.

Keep in mind if you do not do it legally and you get a new receiver the receiver will not work. It has to be activated by Directv or Dish whoever you are using.

Then they know you have it and will charge you. The best thing to do is contact the sat company. You can not really add an additional receiver without paying for its use.

  3. you would have to run a new rg6 cable to your basement then check to see if you have a dual lnb on your dish.the lnb is the piece that is on the very end of your dish with the white plastic cover on it.if it has 2 spots for the cable attachment then you already have one,if one is present then you have to go to your provider and get a dual.
