I have a 95 honda civic, and I made the dumb decision to try to cut through an old grommet containing electrical wires so that I could run a power line for my amp. I haven't been able to get the grommet back in because I can only access it from the engine side and the edge of the firewall (where I want to put the grommet) curves toward the interior of my car. So, I can't push any part of the grommet through far enough for the edge to catch on the rim of the metal (because the metal bends the other way.) If anyone knows how I can get this grommet in, let me know. Also, if you have any other ideas that i could do, let me know. This is an oval grommet, made of hard rubber and about an inch and a half across the long part of the oval.

  1. If it's just being a little stubborn. Try using Vaseline or grease to lubricate it. It may make the job easier. If not you'll have to figure out a way to get to it from the interior side.

  2. Try using liquid soap or spray CRC556 or WD40 on the grommet before reinstalling. Also laying a string on the neck of the grommet and have a friend on one side guide the string and grommet while you push from the other side (like when installing a front windshield glass and weatherstrip or back window glass and weatherstrip to ease the rubber weatherstrip over the metal).
