  1. I've had good " luck" with ICO and JRCC... and a wider approach could be  KOL.

The outlook is good mostly because the price of oil and the demand for steel...both those should be watched closely if your going with coal.

  2. all of a sudden coal stocks are the rage.  They have increased more than oil stocks.

Here are a few coal companies you can choose from

BTU Peabody Energy Co  This is the largest U S coal company.  The company is not in the greatest of financial shape however.  It carries a lot of debt.

CNX Consolidated Energy.  This is the 2nd largest U S coal company.  It does not carry so much debt as Peabody.

ACI Arch Coal is the 3rd largest U S coal company.

These have all had a terrific run up in price

There is a new index fund that just recently came to market.  KOL.  It invests in coal stocks and companies associated with coal mining.

  3. Buy a no load mutual fund with a basket of Coal Companies.

  4. UK coal, any share that has coal mines (BHP?) or ETFs See http://www.shareworld.co.uk
