I am building a playset in the backyard for my children. I want to install in on either wood chips or pea stone. However, there are several cats in the neighborhood and I'm afraid they may begin to doot in the play area. What are some things I can do to keep them away from the area and that are safe for children?

  1. Cats like soft, fine dirt or sand to bury their "business", so the pea gravel or large tan bark would work.

You could also get a dog...

  2. Recently i was working at walmart and sold several boxes of mothballs to a woman.  She told me she was using them in her garden to keep animals from doing the dirty in her garden....hmmm interesting.  She also said that if you hang some (moth balls that is, not animals )  in a bag like an onion bag, netted.  hang it by your light outside your door.  This will help prevent bugs, moths etc from flying around your light and getting in your home....also very interesting.  I hope this helps.  I do know that bark mulch is not preferred by cats...

  3. i would say your best bet is to fence in the area
