Question:

How do I keep maggets out of my dumpster?

I recently had to take the dumpster to the road and there were maggets all over it! It freaked me out becuase theres only one thing in the world that I hate more than maggets, and thats nats. But anyway, I need to know how to keep them out so that I dont have to look at the foul little creatures again. THANKS!!!!!!

  1. I always seal my waste food in sealed plastic bags or aluminum foil to eliminate the smell and anything like flies or maggots.  This has always worked me.


  2. Try washing the trash can good.  Then add about a capful or 2 of bleach on a couple of folded paper towels, and lay it in the bottom of the dumpster.  You're getting maggots because the flies are getting in there and laying eggs.  GROSS!  Hope this helps!

  3. That is hard to do in the summer time. I do know they do not like sun light. Expose the nasty  thing to sun and they die. Perhaps wrapping all meat product in containers would work. Keep your dumpster clean as you can.

  4. bleach bleach bleach... uuuugggghhhhh maggots eww. but anyways. if you bleach your dumpster and then clean it regularly with bleach water about one or two times a month then you should be fine.... hope this helps...
