How do I keep my car clean?

I used to be a pack-rat and messy. I've since gotten over this and now live a clutter free life. For the most part I keep the house picked up and clean etc.. my only downfall is my van. I clean it and a week later its messy and next thing you know- it's trashed. I don't know if it's because i'm lazy? I need some ideas on how to stop this cycle! I am pregnant and have an 18 month old and an 8 year old= so between a diaper bag and my purse and whatever else and things my 8 year brings by the time we get home i never feel like brining everything inside and then things just pile up and pile up (like kids clothes.. shoes.. etc). This is maddening to me and I need some serious suggestions that will help me to overcome this!

  1. wash it

  2. Have your 8-year help out. Maybe get one or two plastic bins to keep in the empty seat so you can put everything that goes in the house in them, so you don't feel overwhelmed by having to drag arm-loads of stuff in.

My twins used to keep a tote bag that they could put their stuff in and carry it themselves (once they were big enough, of course).

  3. I keep Wal-Mart bags in my car to help carry things in. You can actually stuff a lot in them and everyone carries some. I am the same way though sometimes we have everything from shoes to umbrellas to toys, mail. I seem to go in spurts where I keep it clean for a few months and trashed for a few, but not with actual trash. I have also told my kids "you pack it in you pack it out, even if it means more than one trip out".

  4. are you talking about just leaving too many items in the car.

My husband is pretty bad about his car. He doesn't have anyone else in it so behind the driver seat and the passanger seat is one box behind each one.  One is for his trash and one is for his "keep" items. That way when he gets home all his trash is in one place and I simply just take out the box of trash and put it back in the car.

He drives 4 hours a day so it really helps keep him organized.
