How do I keep my carpet clean?

I have small kids and there are certain areas in my carpet that always feel gooey/ sticky like. Its is also very hard to keep my carpet clean of stains. what can i do to solve this problem,I want to keep it clean and is there anything that will free my carpet of stubborn stain ( I mean really work!)

One of the best homemade carpet cleaning solutions is made of simply one part rubbing alcohol and two parts water. Just blot whatever you can out of the carpet, then scrub using this solution. Blot dry.

I use oxy clean on the tough stains. It gets out dried up grape juice wonderfully. We have also used diluted grease lightening and a scrub brush. My husband usually does that and it works great.
