Question:

How do I keep my cat from l*****g this sore on his back?

My cousin gave me her cat because she was unable to look after him. He's developed a sore on his back and won't stop l*****g it. I've tried a liquid bandage spray that's suppose to be bitter, but after applying it the cat licks even more than before!

I've been considering an e-collar for him, he's going to hate it, but if it helps... Is there some way to bandage the sore? I'm fairly certain wrapping anything around him will be entirely futile....

  1. get a cone.  It is this cone type thing that goes around its neck to prevent  the cat from l*****g anything.  Ive done it with my cat when she had stitches on her belly.  You can get it at a vet or maybe a pet store. Also ask your local vet if they're are any other ways, im sure he will be a big help. GOOD LUCK!

  2. Has he seen the vet?  You may want to get it looked at before it gets worse or infected.  But I do agree with the E collar even though they hate it.  Open sores tend to heal better when fresh air can reach it.  (as long as there are no bugs around)

  3. The sore needs a vet to look at it. Might be infected or a allergy type thing..

  4. yes, I do suggest the e-collar. Have you tried bandaging? If not, give that a try first. Pet stores sell bandaging. You would need to wrap it around the body, but not to tight!

  5. You Should Go To Your Local Vet Any Questions And He'll Have A Look At The Sore And Some Advice On How To stop Your Cat l*****g Its Sore Thanks =]

  6. Over grooming is a sign of stress and that could be what the problem is here. Have you been to the vet to have it checked out? There are bandages that wrap around and stick to itself not to fur. But, I expect the vet is your first step.
