How do I keep my cigars from drying out?

I got this cheep humidor, it was 25 bucks, its a ceader box with a plastic lookin hockey puck thing with a spung in it. and I know I should spent more money for a better one but im a broke motha fuc*er, anyways I just came back from jamaica (mom took me) and brought some cohibas back and they r all drying out! I put a lot of the distilled water on the spong in the plastic hockey puck but its not working, any ideas that I could try.

Either get a real humidor or (for emergencies) put them in a plastic baggie in the refrigerator (they will keep moist but not for too long).

The main problem sounds like you didn't properly season the humi  before adding the sticks.

That plus the fact that it sounds like a poor humi.

Do NOT store them in the freezer,   but double bagging them willl help help prolong storage.  

But if they are drying out, it may be too late and only a matter of time.....

Wrap them in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil.  Place them in the freezer and they should stay fresh for about two-three months.

my dad used to put a small slice of apple in his humidor to keep his tobacco from drying out, gave it a nice fruity smell too
