My right foot (I'm a lefty swing) keeps coming up as I wind up for my swing. I know it's not much to help you help me, but I don't even know why I do that. Any ideas as to how to stop doing it?

  1. I was given some advice from a golf pro and he suggested that when addressing the ball physically push your big toes down??works for me,while you may need to lift some part of your feet and your big toes are anchored your alignment doesn't change, try it

  2. my advice is get a lesson from a PGA pro

  3. Put a nail through your foot!!

  4. If you look at Phil (another great lefty like me) his front foot comes up on the backswing.  Jack, too.  It isn't bad to do it but concenrate on 'rolling' the foot as opposed to lifting, keeping you head level at the same time.

It is okay to lift your foot to complete your backswing.  Don't change if you are hitting well.

  5. It's true that for some of the pro's  that they lift their lead foot. But you have to remember they are pro's and they compensate for this flaw with other facets of their swing. This tendency however is wrong for non-pros. The reason you do this is because of a flaw in your weight shift. Pay attention next time your on the range, you are almost certainly SLIDING your hips back instead of a turn. Make sure you keep your base steady throughout the swing. Your weight should transfer throughout the turn. Also make sure you stance is shoulder length in part. Get your feet to spread apart, and you HAVE to lift your foot to get fully loaded on your back side (for you this is your left side). Also at address, point your lead foot (right foot) out a little or open. This promotes the hip TURN (notice turn not slide) and is a little bit more fluid. But to recap, this is not normal nor acceptable in a 'text book' swing. It is a problem that needs to be addressed or it could start to lead to other problems such as reverse pivot, etc.

Little more info into this question. This is a 'weight transfer' issue. If your wonder where your weight should be at address, it should be on the inside of your feet. NOT on your Heels or on the outside of your feet. The more comfortable you get, extra power is added by setting your weight on the inside of your feet and SLIGHTLY forward on the balls of your feet. Now i would be lieing if i said it stayed their the entire swing as it does not, however, the are the only areas the weight should be (ie with should transfer to the inside of your back foot in your backswing and moving toward the inside of your lead foot in transition of your downswing and follow through).  But again don't panic because like i've said, this is nothing more than a weight transfer issue. Comment and let me know if this works. KEEP IT IN THE SHORT GRASS : )

  6. Most golfers do not play golf and hit power shots when " flat-footed" Most lift the lead foot slightly to assist the turning of the body and the completion of the backswing.. On the downswing, they will plant the lead foot as they start the downswing which in turn starts the hips, then the torso, then the shoulders and the arms( all coordinated) through the striking position leading to a full follow through which will lead to the trailing foot being on the toes.

  7. keep it on the ground

  8. try this instead of not lifting your foot

try to lift it but not alot

just lift it and point t at the batter

    you get more power

    trust me just try it
