Question:

How do I keep my repotted plant from swaying?

Hello,

I repotted my majesty palm (about 6' tall), and because it's not root bound anymore, it has trouble staying completely upright. Is there something I can do to help it grow straight up? Would those 'plant sticks' help to accomplish this? Sorry, I'm totally new to gardening.

Thanks!

  1. Plant stick may help, if they are big enough & strong enough.

Possibly planting the tree DEEPER into the soil by a few inches will help too.

  2. I have several tall plants that I've had to stake.  You can get all sorts of things you can use as stakes at the hardware store that come in various lengths to accomodate the height of your plant.  Then tie the plant gently to the stake.  It'll do find.  I found some actual dark green rods at the hardware store.  That way they don't stand out, they blend in with the plant.

  3. Lowes and Home Depot sell t-post, get 2 or 3 of them and stake them around the palm. Cut up an old water hose and run a piece of wire through each one. Loop the wire with the hose around the palm then twist it onto the t-post. It will help hold it straight up. The only problem is that you will need a t-post driver, they cost around $25.00 while the post are only about $3.00

Sorry, I don't know what else to tell you.
