we are in a transition period and staying with my parents he is 14 months old and just started climbing out this week we are staying in there LIVINGROOM and I am afraid that if he clibs out in the middle of the night he will get into something harmfull. the opening between rooms is too wide for a baby gate. I would just like to know if anyone has any ideas of how to get him to stay in his crib until we move in a month and he will have his own room and toddler bed.....please help.

  1. Get a lid for it.

  2. Sounds freaky but........ get moms dining room chairs (as long as they're not Chippendale) and lay them sideways over the big gaps so if bubs goes walkabout in the middle of the night, at least he'll wake you crossing the 'baby traps'  he is showing his great toddler independence climbing out of his playpen and between h**l and high water there is nothing you can do but put the breakables higher and cross your fingers! Remember your mum and dad went through all this with you (they may be secretly giggling in their bed at night)  Be prepared for snacks hidden in DVD players and car keys in the trash (or the toilet)

  3. The only thing i can recemend is , do you sleep on the floor

or on the couch? if you sleep on the floor have your baby sleep  between you and your husband, or block the doorways what i would do is let him sleep between both of you.

thats all i can think of sorry if it doesn't help

  4. turn it upside down

  5. Ask your parents if you can install baby locks on the harmful things you are afraid of. If he is big enough to climb out, he will. The only thing you can do is to keep putting him back in there when you catch him out of it. How are you planning to keep him restrained to his toddler bed next month? He is going to get up out of there too if he still wakes up at night.

There are adjustable baby gates out there that you can buy that can come in smaller and much bigger sizes if you still feel worried.
