Question:

How do I keep my swim goggles from crushing the bridge of my nose?

A large bridge on my nose combined with my sunken eye sockets makes it VERY hard for me to find a standard goggle that won't dig into my nose like crazy. The wider connectors don't work because my eyes aren't wide so much as my nose is big. I'm even thinking about trying to do a McGyver and build one myself. Any suggestions?

Thanks

  1. sometimes you can get goggles custom made, so that they fit your face much better. I joined a swim team for a while and they suggested that for me, because i have a very low nose, and my goggles always fell off when i dived/dove into the water...it really helped me.

  2. Buy goggles that don't have separate nose-pieces. I also have large eye sockets and a nose that borders on big side. When I was younger, I wore Hydrospex, but those look dorkier as you get older. I switched to Speedo Sengar a few years ago and I've stuck with them ever since.

    Here's what they look like:

The sockets and nose piece are all made of rubber so they mold and flex to fit your face. You could also try swedish goggles. They have a nose piece that you construct yourself:

Vanquishers are a great style of goggles for most people, but they do not fit my face at all. They are painful around my eyes and across my nose.

  3. If you come up with an answer on this you'll make millions. This has always been a problem for swimmers.

The problem comes from the fact to create a seal you need to have a tight fit. To have the tight fit the lense connection needs to be tight. This usually digs into the bridge of the nose.

You can either get goggles where the bridge piece is higher than the bridge of your nose or use padding (similar to but sturdier than the material around the eye pieces) under the bridge connection.

Sorry I don't have a better answer. But if I did then I'd be rich.

  4. vanquishers.

    best goggles around.

  5. get a higher bridge.

I use goggles like this http://www.allamericanswim.com/images/75...  and i have never had a problem.

  6. I have a large nose as well and what i do is I take the wide ones and bend them and then wrap a rubber band around them for a few days, then they are less wide and they stick out more.

  7. I have the same problem. Change your nose piece, and there are some nose pieces that are softer then the regular plastic ones.
