I have a Linksys router for wireless Internet.. I've noticed in the morning my connection is blazing fast, but at night, it crawls. Is it possibly because neighbors are stealing my signal? If so, how can I prevent this?

  4. Password protection as the others said

  5. They probably aren't stealing your internet because the signal doesn't go through walls very easily. but you should definately put a password on it or put it farther away from your neighbor's house.

  6. Well, if your wireless internet is unsecured, then, yes, it is possible.  If you have cable internet there may be other factors involved.

You would need to go into your router configuration to secure your wireless network. So drag out your router manual so that you can at least find the default password for the router.

You can go into the wireless settings for your router and require that anyone connecting use a WEP or WPA key in order to connect. You can also hide the wireless network name (SSID) so that it won't even show up when others look for a list of available networks.

  7. Turn down the signal on your router so it doesn't go as far. Turn it down to where its only your house.

  8. Put a password on your router!
