U have asked a question a week earlier. I am a soccer player who tried out for football kicker. It turned out great. The farthest kickoff I did was about 55 yards and I can average about 50 yards. This is only my forth day of kicking. Right now. I can kick good balls (straight and high and far) about two thirds the time. My coach also asked me to play some regular foot ball positions? what can I play? my 100meter is a little more than 12s, and I do not yet know the 40yd dash time. Have none prior experience to football.(I dont the function of any position except quarter back.)

1. what do you suggest as my second position

2. how good am I at kicking

3. what should I do with kicking

Thnaks guys

  1. Maintaining a kicking position on a football team is all about accuracy and distance.  Your distance is strong.

If your coach is looking for more utility for you in playing more than the kicking position, he will know a lot better as to your aptitudes.  There is no substitute for speed, and "big and fast" beats "small and fast" every time.  You are not exceptionally fast, but quickness and "football savvy" are far more valuable than raw speed at most positions.  I suspect the reason your coach wants you more involved is that he sees how athletic you are and wants to put that athleticism to work.  He will know best where to steer you because he observes you every day and knows your aptitudes.

  2. Just ask your coach, thats what he is there for. It is hard for us to give you a good answer because we have never seen you or watched you play
