How do I keep roaches away from my cat's food?

I live with my mom, sister and her kids, plus my 2 cats, I don't have control over the 'messy' kitchen, and their food tends to attract roaches soon after I serve them, any advice on how to keep them nasty creatures away from their food?

  1. I agree with Ben on this one.

You shouldn't really have any sort of insects in your home.

  2. EASY easy way is to get borax. Mix a little sugar with it and put some on index cards and slide them under furniture or the appliances (not the stove) where the cats or people can't reach.  Roaches eat the borax and can't pass the gas, their insides explode, killing them. It's very effective.  The little bit of sugar gets them to the pile of borax and they ingest both when they start eating.

It kept the apartment clear of cockroaches when the second to last tenant moved in and brought them from their old place.

  3. Get an exterminator. Simple :)

    same problem with my friend

you should keep the bowls in your room or something if not clean out the bowls like right after there done eating..

  5.     Sorry about your upsetting problem.

You need a large bowl that can't tip, fill that part way with water. Then put another smaller bowl, it needs to be heavy enough not to float, inside the bowl with water. Serve the cats' food in that. The roaches can't get at it.

Also, leave the food down for just a set length of time each feeding - like a half hour only. The cats will get used to it after a week or so and eat when they are fed. Do not leave cat food sitting out.

  6. try to get a bowl with a ring around it and fill the ring with water....it might work i know it works great with ants but it will not work  with flieing roaches
