Question:

How do I keep towels soft

I just bought some nice new towels and I want to keep them really soft. What can I do to keep them nice for a long time? Also, they're white, and I usually bleach my white towels, but should I avoid bleaching them? Will the bleach wreck them?

  1. To keep your towels really just add some fabric softner and use bleach

when your towels start looking dingy.

  2. Wash them in cold water on a gentle cycle.   I like to add a drop of virtually any essential oil I have on hand during the last minute or two of the wash cycle.  Vinegar is good in the rinse, it will disinfect and deodorize your towels. Fabric softener wears down cloth fibers and reduces absorption.  Hang to dry, then put them in the dryer on high for 5 minutes with a washcloth saturated in water to fluff and soften them.  Make sure you hang your towels properly on the rack after bathing, so they will dry out quickly and reduce the chance of mold and mildew prior to laundering once again.

  3. Well the way I do it is this way..

    1. wash them in cold/cold heavy duty cycle use extra rinse cycle also (only wash them in hot/warm if them have odor) otherwise then cold/cold

    2. pour in a cup of fabric softer into the washer fabric dispenser,  (if you don't have one bounty makes a ball you drop in with the fabric softer within one load wash)I use Costco Ultra brand it's cheaper and works just as good. Otherwise Snuggles works too.

    3. Let them wash

    4. If you have a dryer with auto moisture sensor that will help you save energy and makes the towels come out better. I also use fabric soft sheets also from Costco you get 400 sheets for less than $10 bucks. Anyway if you don't go to Costco  then use Snuggles or Bounce.

    Well that' s it ..

One more thing if you want to hang them out on the line the only problem doing that today in the summer is bugs like to hang on to the towel if you leave them out late overnight. Since them have germs you might have to start all over again. Now if you start early then make sure you bring them in before sun down!

  4. The cause of stiffness in laundry is usually that too much detergent has been left in the clothing. To make your towels softer, use less detergent than normal, and add white vinegar to the first rinse cycle. You may also want to add an extra rinse cyle when washing towels. Line dried towels do not get as fluffy and soft as ones dried in the dryer, but this should help.

**I also recommend using Bounce dryer sheets.**

  5. Add fabric softener to your rinse cycle but not too much as if you do yur towels will not have the drying power they need.
