We moved a window unit from my Mom's house to our house, and apparently there is a wasp's nest inside. What should I do?

  1. unplug the unit and cover the inside with plastic.tape around to make a good seal. After dark when the wasps are in the nest spray the unit through the louvers on the back with a wasp and hornet killer. after 12 hours remove the plastic and front cover and filter. you may have to remove the inside of the unit from it's shell to get to the nest.once the nest is gone, hose off the entire unit inside and out and replace the filter.let the unit dry sufficiently before plugging it in.

  2. is it an old wasp nest with no wasps in it? you will have to take it apart to remove it cuz you don't want to run the a/c with that in there.

  3. I think you would be better to take it apart, unless you can clean it using a garden hose and small brushes.  You could spray wasp killer at it, but you would be breathing that stuff eventually.  Make sure it is good and dry before you turn it on though.  Electrical shorts could cause a major problem if you leave stuff wet.

Air conditioners should be good and clean to use anyways.  Dirty air conditioners cause major respiratory problems in people who are sensitive to that stuff.

Be careful.  Don't spray anything in there with it plugged in!
