I live in Cincinnati, OH and just bought a house. When I looked at the house there was snow on the ground. Now that it has gotten warmer I have realized there are about 3-4 different types of grass as well as at least 8-10 types of weeds. I just want to kill everything and start over.

  1. round up........... spray it on and leave everything for 10 days and ur ready to plant again..

  2. Round-up will kill everything and has NO soil residual.  (Soil Inactive)  So, no issues with that.

If you have alot of weeds, then you have alot of seeds (laying dormant).  Therefore, spray the lawn and weeds, start irrigating after a couple days to start germinating any other seeds LYing IN WAIT.  Then spray the round-up a second time to insure your planting area is generally weed-seed free.  Especially important if you plan on planting seed.

    Good Luck

  3. Round-up  is the best spray the stronger the weeds the better it works, Leave for 10 days then cut the weeds or dig them up   good luck

  4. with strong weed killers , after they have done there magic ,the chemicals stay in the soil for sometime so that planting has to wait. there is a garden flame gun which will burn everything down to soil level but make sure you keep a garden hose nearby for safety.laying turf over burnt weeds is probably the best as this will hopefully stop the weeds from regrowing

  5. Sit on them.

  6. Round Up will kill the grass and weeds without sterilizing the soil, it systemic so it works thru the roots, remember the more foliage its applied to the better, so dont mow to close to the ground before spraying (more spray over a larger area of  foliage means more taken to the root system)..then you can rake most of it up  or dig up and replant in about 14 days. Now heres the nice thing about round up  if you want you can just throw new sod over old lawn after waiting about 2 weeks. If you going to re seed then you gotta clean out all old dead lawn ...level lawn... make it nice and clean...then go from there depending on your area but trust me sodding would be alot less hassle  birds eat seeds...rain washes seed into puddles....weeds grow wild in bare lawns (like freshly seeded lawns that get watered) and some grass seeds need to be buried an inch or two to grow properly and germinate. There are different strengths of Round Up on the market. The higher % of tech of course would be better just be sure to read the label for time period between spray and replanting...usually just a couple weeks...good luck
