it's been more than 2 weeks that I've made CORRECTIONS to my FAFSA. & also changed my COLLEGE & everything. But I don't hear ANY RESPOND after that. & also I asked my college, and they didn't receive any FAFSA information about me either. What do I have to do? I don't know what's going on.

  1. If you've made changes to your FAFSA, go back to the FAFSA page (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/), and click on "Check Status of a Submitted FAFSA" - you'll see it there at the top of the column labeled with the big number "3" on the right hand side of the page.

There is no question of your "eligibility" for FAFSA. Everyone is eligible to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. I think your question is "How will I know what types of financial aid I will be awarded?"

That answer is determined by the financial office at your school. When your FAFSA changes have been processed, your school will receive an "Institutional Student Information Report" that is a lot like the "Student Aid Report" that you will receive. The key piece of information on that ISIR is your Expected Family Contribution code, known as the EFC code. The EFC is a measure of the ability that you and your family have to contribute to your educational expenses.

Your school will evaluate this EFC code to determine which financial aid programs you qualify for.

Depending on your EFC, you may qualify for certain grants - free monetary assistance from the US government. Keep in mind that grants are only available to students who need a great deal of assistance. Very few families find it "easy" to pay for college, but some families need a lot more help than others.

Regardless of your EFC score, you will be informed of your eligibility to participate in the government's Stafford lending program. Stafford loans are the best educational loans that you can get from any source. They have lower interest rates than other forms of loans, you never need a credit check or a cosigner to qualify, and they offer extremely generous borrower benefits. When you borrow from the Stafford loan program, you are not expected to begin repayment until 6-9 months after you have graduated (or dropped out).

So - start by going to the FAFSA page to review the status of your corrected FAFSA. You'll need the PIN number that you received when you registered in order to sign in. If you have any questions or problems with this step, make an appointment to see a financial aid advisor at your school. Don't wait until the first week of classes - the financial aid office is swamped for the few weeks of every semester.

Good luck - I hope this helped!

  2. If you did your FAFSA online then you should know immediately if you qualify and what you are eligible for.  Look at the EFIC numbers on the final page.  If these numbers are all zeros then you qualify for a complete Pell Grant (money you do not have to pay back).  If they are not all zeros then you qualify for a partial grant.  With that information in hand you need to go to the Financial Aid Office of the college you will attending and talk with a counselor.  Hope this takes care of your worries and good luck.

  3. woah three weeks?

they send the award to your school. For me, my school has a student login type thing and I checked my status there.
