I have been a vegetarian for one year, but I still eat dairy (eggs, milk, cheese) and fish. I eat lots of dairy and fruits and vegitables. I also eat soy products like tofu.

How do I know if I am lacking protein?

  1. dont worry about it, you sound pretty healthy, add some whey protient to your diet. Gold standard is a good brand.

  2. Let's clear up one thing.  Vegetarians do not eat fish.

Now, how do you know you're getting enough protein?  1) You're getting between 1,500 and 2,000 calories a day.  2) They're not primarily junk food.

If you're living in an industrialized nation, you'll have trouble finding a doctor who has ever heard of kwashiorkor, much less seen a case of it.

  3. You need complex carbs like rice and beans together. The book I have is "diet for a small planet" and "recipes for a small planet"
