How do I know if I am hydrated enough?

I'm on the dance team at my school and we had to go outside today to practice on yard lines. The heat is terrible here in Texas and I do NOT do well in it. I almost passed out. I had to sit down while everyone else was practicing. It was bad. So i think that happened becuase I was dehydrated. We go outside again tomorrow and I want to make sure this doesn't happen again! Any tips?

  1. One of the quickest and easiest ways to check is to place your hand on a flat surface, and pinch (not hard) the skin on the back of your hand.

    If the ridge of skin "snaps" back... you're hydrated.

    If the ridge takes time to fall back flat on your hand, you need rehydrating.

    That's just a general rule of thumb though.


  2. Bring a big bottle of water, take breaks in the middle to drink. Don't let yourself pass out from dehydration
