Question:

How do I know if I can swim?

I learn how to swim about 6 months ago. I took 6 swimming lessons so far (30 minutes each lesson). I've learned how to do freestyle, floating on my back, and push off under the water. I'm not well yet, but I've been practicing.

A few questions:

1. how do I know if I can swim?

2. What type of swimming technique my instructor supposed to teach me?

  1. If your feet are off the bottom of the pool when your moving across it you can swim!

Your instructor should be teaching you to improve your style/strokes and helping you to learn how to breathe properly - so you can swim faster and more efficiently. Also keep having fun like practising handstands, doing underwater somersaults, retreiving things from the pool bottom, seeing how far you can swim underwater - playing around - it increases your water confidence and you have a good time.

  2. jump in a pool and see if you drown...lol

  3. well ummm...if you said you can swim "I learn how to swim about 6 months ago" then yeah you must know how to swim.

    OMG..what a dumb question!

    :D lmao

  4. when u drown...

  5. jump in the water move ur arms

    breast stroke..

  6. just try it and if you cant than take lessens ok

  7. Stay in the shallow end, but keep your feet up, and swim from wall to wall without touching the bottom. If you can do this for a long time without touching the bottom, or without getting too tired that you feel like you would need to touch the bottom, you can swim. Just keep practicing and you will get better. As far as what types of swimming techniques instructors should teach you, it depends on how you want to swim... do you want to be on a team and be competitive, or do you just want to mess around in the pool without drowning? If you want to be competitive, you should learn the 4 strokes (freestyle, breastroke, backstroke, and butterfly), as well as techniques to make you swim faster in these strokes. You will also learn the flip turns and how to dive. If you wjust want to mess around, you just need to stay above the surface long enough to have a good time. You should learn basic freestyle, as well as the proper breathing techniques, because it will make you more efficient, but other than that, you just need to stay afloat...

  8. Just jump in and see what happens. Take a chance.
