How do I know if I have the new IE7/Microsoft Trojan? Please help!?

Opened the spam mail supposedly from Microsoft for IE but immediately realized my error and deleted, did not click any links. I have run AVG, XCleaner, and Mcafee, and so far nothing has turned up. My laptop appears to be running normally, but my knowledge of computers is very basic, so have avoided logging in any sites that require I use a password. Is there any thing else I should do or any simple instructions for further checking would be greatly appreciated Thank you!

Use Mozilla Firefox with this 2 add ons :

1) Adblock Plus

2) NoScript

You shouldn't have two Anti Virus programs on your computer  having two can cause serious conflict problems and create false positives when scanning for Viruses.  AVG is not that good it has a poor detection rate so stick with Mcafee and uninstall AVG. When you uninstall AVG it's going to leave files behind so do this> right click Start>click RUN>type in MSCONFIG>enter>click on start up tab and delete any AVG files you see and any you see anywhere else on your computer.

If it was just spam and your computer is running OK and you're not getting any pop up messages then you are good.

For better security>

Stop using IE download Mozilla Firefox it's a more secure browser.

If you are using Windows create a password and right it down.

Always keep Windows up to date as well as your Anti Virus program.

Download CCleaner to fix registry errors and delete temporary files you don't need.

So no need to worry about anything , Go and check your email and relax you can enter your password safely

Details:

Usually the one way to get affect is by downloading the trojan and opening it , but no way that the code been executed it wont affect you unless its been activated and in your case its not :)

More Checking:

You can run any monitoring programs to monitor running process , Dumping your TCP/UDP and checking whats getting out through internet , Will makes you sleep better if you were little bit specious

Further Suggestion:

You can try to have linux (MintOS / Ubuntu) as you wont be annoyed with any Virus / Anti Virus till the last day in your life :)
