How do I know if I like him, or just the thought of him?

my guy friend told me that he likes me and I kind of like him too. We talk a lot and he's cool to hang out with. I am not desperate for a boyfriend but I would like one and I'm all up for getting to know him better. The problem is I don't know if I really like him, or if i just like him as a friend but like the feeling of having him as a boyfriend. He's probably going to ask me out next week and I don't know what I'm going to say. Probably yes because I want to see how we would work as a couple and I want to get to know him better in a different than "just friends" way. Another, smaller part of me is telling me no though. What do you think?

give ur friend a chance. its not gonna ruin anything being with him and if the otehr guy lieks someone else...tehn dont wait up on him. go with the friend.

you should give him a chance.. the worst thing that can happen is that you feel it isnt working and have to tell him so. But otherwise it could be great!

I would never go out with my best guy mate.. but only cos his brothers my boyfriend and im crazy about him. hehe.

Why not give it a chance - go out with your friend if he asks.  Some of the best relationships start out as friendships.  You already know that you like each other, you must have a few things in common, and it will probably be a lot less awkward than going out with someone you hardly know.  As for the other guy, well, it's normal to be interested in more than one person at your age, and there is no need to rush into an exclusive relationship.  Dating one of them doesn't rule out the chance of dating the other in the future. Just be careful and don't go too far with either one of them; you don't want to have regrets later.  Good luck.
