How do I know if he was just joking?

Okay, so I was hanging out with some guys that I'm friends with, but there was this one I didn't know too well. They were talking about hooking up with girls, and then one of them pointed out that the boy I didn't know too well would hook up with anything. Then he gestured to me (the boy I didn't really know), and right to my face said, "Yeah, anything but that." But he said it with a big smile on his face and laughed. So was it a joke? Or is he just a jerk?

Whether it's a joke or not, I would say he's a jerk.

It was very ungentlemanly for a guy to say something like that straight on the face of someone in front of many people regardless of them being friends. I would be very offended if someone would say such thing to me.

Women should be given the proper respect they deserve even from men who think too good about themselves.

I suggest you stay away from people like that guy because it's obvious that he's not any good influence at all.
