Question:

How do I know if my Robo hamster is sick or not?

I just got it yesterday, and all external aspects indicate he is healthy (beautiful coat, bright eyes) but I haven't seen him eat anything from his bowl (which is filled with hamster food from a pack, (it has a mix of things in it). He hasn't made a sound as yet, and I'm afraid I might be feeding him the wrong things. Is there a special mix for this type of hamster?

  1. it seems that your hammy is just a little nearvous but wouldn't you be nearvous if you left your friends and family without a choice and had to live alone... not saying that you need another one...

just give it some time to calm down and try to resist touching it that will scare it even more

maybe put on some classical music to calm it

if you are gone durring the day put a talk show on so it can hear voice's and know that he shouldn't be scared

but he is fine dont worry about it, it was the same way when i brought my first parakeet home

  2. Give your hamster some time, he came into a new environment only yesterday and would be disoriented and scared. Give him a couple of days more and he should settle into his cage and start eating more properly. To motivate him to eat, you can place a few sunflower seeds or bits of hard boiled egg white in the food tray with the commercial hamster mix.

Hamsters eat hardly a teaspoon full of food a day so maybe you might not notice the quantity reducing in a filled up food tray until a few days. Also the hamster might not sit and eat near the tray, he might load up food in his cheek pouches and take it to his nest to eat.

Any good brand commercial hamster mix is good for your hamster. For other ideas on what to feed your hamster, visit the following site -
