How do I know if my TV will work when they go to the new format next year?

  1. The best thing is to look at the owner's manual or Google the model number.  For use with an antenna for Over The Air (OTA) TV you need a set that has an "ATSC Tuner".  If it does, you are all set for OTA TV.  If not, then you will need a converter box.

    If you are on cable, you will still get at least the local stations in analog.  The cable system may start moving channels to the digital tier requiring you to upgrade to Digital Cable.  If so, they should be able to supply whatever equipment you need.

    If you have satellite, you should not see a change next February.
