  1. the fact that youre even asking this question tells me its probably dead

  2. easy, see if it's breathing

  3. Hamsters only hibernate if the temperature falls quite low and stays there for awhile.

Check for breathing, and if you can't tell, then place your hamster in a small box and gradually warm him/her up. If he/she is hibernating, warming the body temperature up too quickly can kill the hamster.

If that doesn't help, then the hamster may have gone to Hammie Heaven.

Best Wishes, and I hope things turn out okay.

  4. Touch him after a few days and see if he's cold and stiff.

  5. he will be breathing..

    hes probably dead tho.

  6. okay my hamster went in hibernation once, and it was at my aunts. our heat wasn't working, so we brought him there and my aunts house was super cold, and once our heat was working, i went to get him and at first glance thought he was dead, but luckily, i had read a hamster book that told me that they could be hibernating and so i picked him up and blew on him ( thats how i wake him up =P) and awake he came!(:

  7. You can tell the diffrence because if its hibernating he or she will be breathing. If he or she is dead it wont move and will be cold and stiff.

  8. well you check to see if the hampster is breathing

  9. duh check its pulse and hey it will wake up if u mess with it but i would get a new hamster just incase

  10. A hibernating hamster on first glance appears "dead". However there is a difference between hibernating and dead hamsters - looking closely, you will notice that it is still breathing, though not very strongly. The hamster will be very limp, as opposed to the stiffness that occurs soon after death. It will also be very cold to the touch. Check feet and noses and ears- places with less fur- and they will be quite icy.

Hamsters hibernate only in really extreme climatic conditions and tamed hamsters in cages kept in amiable conditions are not prone to hibernating unless in very rare cases.

If you doubt that your hamster is in hibernation, bring it near a warm source and rub its body gently and vigorously to promote blood circulation.
