How do I know if my key chain is too heavy? I don't want to wear out the ignition thing on my car!?

I have my car key and like 7 other keys on there, is that too heavy? I have a BMW 3 series and I heard that on sporty cars you shouldn't have a very heavy key chain

I've read in "Click & Clack" that the weight of your keys do not affect the ignition.  Click & Clack run a series in the Chicago Sun Times.

Ignition cylinders are really cheap these days, so keep a few keys on that chain at most.  If nothing else, get one of those double key rings that you push  down on and they separate.

I should look into doing that on my F150 as I have a flash drive and a few keys that I don't even have a use for on my chains.

I wouldn't worry about it, cars are much better built than that, just don't attatch a bowling ball to your keys and you should be fine.

Hi : keep only your ign key n your electronic fob on the chain, keep all your other keys on a seperate chain. That wad of keys will scratch your column (if Ucare about scratches). Then if you lose that (wad0) keys you have lost all your important ones..Looks tackey 2..Have a good day.
