Question:

How do I know if my solar electric system is working satisfactorily?

I can check on the inverter by going outside my house and

get watts, and kWh for the day, but don't have idea if my system

is performing relative to its specification.

  1. We would have to know the specifications before we could say how to measure for them.


  2. Each panel has a peak rating for Watts. Probably 40-50 Watts each. Multiply this rating by the number of panels. Check your charging / supply watts when the sun is direct to panels and it is a very clear day. Your watts should be close to that rating.

    You will probably only get max watts 1-2 hours each day, then there are some loss in the wiring and controller.

  3. Don't you have a formula to follow?  How many BTU for your area?  How many square feet of panel?   What is the rating of your system?  See your salesman.  If not just see if your electric bill is less than before.
