How do I know if my two year old has a concussion?!?

He was standing on his rocking chair (something I had gotten on to him about not two minutes earlier) and he fell backwards hitting his head on the edge of the entertainment center. He started crying immediately and came to me. I was holding him trying to comfort him when my husband called him over so he could comfort him. When my son got off my lap I looked and my hand had blood on it. So we went to clean it out and it is about the size of a dull pencil tip. We are in the middle of this Tropical Storm Fay or else I would run him straight to the hospital. So, can someone please let me know how to tell if he has a concussion?

He's probably fine. What you need to worry about is that cut. Is it bad enough to need stitches?

When I was 5 or so I had my head busted open mt a cast iron pan, and need stitches along the back of my head. Strangely enough though, I didn't even have an concussion.

This past year I received an concussion from sparring in Taekwondo (always wear a mouth piece and keep your jaw closed ^-^), and from what I was told, I was acting very strange for about an hour or so after the incident. My mom brought me to the hospital, and the doctor made sure I was fine. Looked at my pupils, had me bite a Popsicle stick to check for jaw injuries. He said I was fine, and if I experience any strange behavior or a series of migraines in the next week or so to come back.

If your son was not knocked out, is not acting strange (forgetful, confused), and has normal sized pupils (victims often have large pupils after receiving the blow to the head), then he should be fine. Also ask if he can see ok, often a person vision goes blurry as well.

Storm or not you should take him in to be seen by a doctor.

needs to be examined medically.

if he starts acting sleepy, go.

other than that i'm not sure what to look for.  maybe google concussion.
