  1. If you are getting Antivirus 2009 pop-ups, then your computer is infected.

    Follow the procedure to remove:

    To prevent re-infection:

This type of infection (Smitfraud) is often spread by tricking the user into downloading and installing something, often a "codec" or a "media player" at some site in order to make the site work. Usually a video site. Never allow a website to force a download on you to make something unless you 1000 percent know and trust the site. A great many of these downloads are trojans or other malware. Always know exactly what you are downloading! If you are not sure, DON'T!

Or it can be caused by a website exploiting vulnerabilities in Windows. Keeping Windows 100 percent patched and updated with all Windows updates will stop most of this infection avenue. To check, in IE click Tools then Windows Updates.

I love what they done to my computer. It was not fast and had viruses on it but, now it is clean and fast as lighten. If you would like to visit them the link is in my profile. btexpress computer repair is great

  4. Its a virus! Go into safe mode and run your virus programs. Do some research also.

  5. Your computer is infected (the tipoff was the popups nagging you to buy it) with a rogue anti-virus. It means that it is a bad program pretending to be a good program, and trying scare you into sending them money.

Anti-virus programs won't remove it. Most anti-spyware programs won't either (it is a nasty beast), but these programs will.

    Visit http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.ht...

    Download, install, update and run:

    Superantispyware

    Malwarebytes Rouge Remover

    Malwarebytes anti-malware

    Threatfire

    spyware doctor starter edition

    Good luck

    LKB

  6. Either one of these program will remove it

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-...

    or

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/...

  7. If you getting those popups like you said then yes, you have a trojan infection. You will need to remove antivirus 2009 and it's files. I always google it and you can find removal guides like http://www.spyware-techie.com/how-to-rem... I actually used this one and it worked for me. Free also.

  8. go to

    http://www.sophos.com/products/free-tool...

    and download the rootkit revealer

run it and delete the hidden files that it finds

then your av program will be able to update and will find the remaining scumware on your pc when you set  it to scan

there will be a series of random named files in windows\system32 that will be impossible to delete in windows prior to the deltion of the rootkit

i can confirm that the free avast will delete the baddies after sophos has done its thing

i also guess that other browsers will not run, eg firefox or opera
